This product is made from recycled kantha quilts. Kantha is a traditional handicraft originating in Eastern India, made by layering old saris (traditional women's clothing), loincloths, and scraps of fabric, and then applying intricate sashiko stitching. It is hand-sewn for use in the home as bedding and floor coverings, rather than as a commercial product, and no two quilts are alike.
Because it is made from multiple layers of thin fabric, the thickness increases over time, as the upper layers wear away, revealing the underlying layers, creating a unique color gradation and pattern.

This product is made from a used Kantha quilt (see image 5) with a vinyl interior layer. Because the fabric is used, its composition cannot be determined. The fabric may have patches, stains, rips, or worn edges. If the fabric becomes dirty, gently pat the exterior with a wet towel and wipe the interior with a towel, then dry thoroughly before use. Due to the nature of vinyl materials, they will deteriorate over time. Do not use near open flames, heaters, or on heat sources such as electric carpets. Colors, patterns, and designs are assorted. You cannot choose the color .
